Why The Cut Resistant Glove Is Important
When it comes to work areas where you handle sharp objects and dangerous cutting tools, it is important that you wear cut resistant gloves so that you do not expose yourself to wounds and other dangerous injuries. With sharp objects such as knives, scissors, pruners, chisels, snips and razors, there is a great chance that you will cut yourself. It doesn’t matter how experienced you are working with these tools, accidents do happen. In industries other sharp objects that people work with are glass, metal and sharp plastics. There are many ways that the employer can train staff to make sure that these tools are properly maintained. The other means of protecting your staff would be to introduce protective equipment: cut resistant gloves.
A cut resistant glove does not exist. If you work with sharp materials and can say that the glove you are wearing are cut resistant, take that same glove and a sharp object and apply enough pressure to it. You will see that eventually the glove with tear. A similar thing can be said about long latex gloves. Many people will say that the long sleeve on these gloves protect from bacteria going in, but this not always truth, because there are bacteria that are airborne and if the long glove is not fitted properly bacteria will find its way in. It is a different case with water resistant gloves, because rubbers, plastics and latex are all waterproof. When you are working with cut resistant gloves, you have to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations when it comes to caring for these gloves, if you want to experience the best of it. Take a look at the Kelvar glove. These are great gloves, but spill a bit of bleach over them and the fiber will break down.
Take a look at other materials that gloves are made from: leather, cotton and the Kelvar range. These gloves will protect you form getting cut when working with sharp tools, but cotton gloves only provides minimal protection, so this material should not be depended upon for security. The Kelvar glove and the metal mesh hand protection will give you the most protection when working with cutting tools. Leather gloves will only provide you will medium protection. If you work in a chemical industry, although they protect you from harsh chemicals they provide almost no protection against punctures and cuts.
If you want to make sure that a glove you are buying is useful, you have to make sure that the glove fits you properly. This means that when you move your wrist or even just look at it, it should feel like a second skin and there should be not gaps between the glove and you skin for things to get in or out. The glove should not be tight, because this will restrict you, but at the same time the gloves should not be loose. This makes gripping objects difficult. You should not use cut resistant gloves in areas where you are working with extreme temperatures and applications where aggressive chemicals are present.
